Little Moments

As a parent, I'm finding that there are a lot of special moments that are here and gone all too quickly with these little ones. There are the moments that make your heart melt when your toddler tries to console his sister who fell off the sofa with hugs and sweet words. There are moments where your blood ices over in your veins when you suddenly hear the toilet flush from the other room and you offer up a heartfelt prayer that it was a bodily fluid going down the drain instead of a green army man.

Then there are the little moments that slip by unnoticed in the hustle and bustle of daily life, like the first time that your kids play together without trying to stab each other with Legos or the first time that your little girl has hair long enough to wear a ponytail.

The latter is what we're enjoying here today as things have begun to calm down from their hectic pace these last few months and I'm starting to pick up my camera a bit more now. These are unique days for us and with all the change we are anticipating this year, it will be important to remember these little milestones, the ones that are almost insignificant  in their importance. Someday when I'm old and gray, I'm going to want to look back and see the things that made up the little moments in our lives- everything from dirty diapers and ponytails to picnics and dancing in the living room.
