Simon Says

Baby Love
It's no secret that I desperately missed both wee ones while Jonathan and I were away, but the time away really did good for all of us. Jonathan and I were able to have a little much-needed rest and the littles once again tricked the grandparents into thinking that they had never even heard the word tantrum. One of these days I'm going to figure out how to bottle and sell the good attitude/best behavior potion. And then I'm going to sit around eating donuts all day and bathe in hundred dollar bills.

Along with the stellar obedience, Jonathan and I also returned to the report of our sweet little lady making great strides in speech. In a way, it was a great relief to see her watch and carefully imitate words as we had previously been concerned that she wasn't saying much beyond mama and dada. Now, in a few short days, we've seen dramatic changes and we are celebrating each one as though she suddenly gifted us with world peace.

It's not perfect, but we're seeing a grand effort to communicate now, even hearing her turn to us at dinner earlier this week and say Water, please. I won't sugar-coat it- we practically jumped out of our chairs in celebration.

We have officially crossed the threshold. Now, she speaks... in another year, she won't stop, but now that we've conquered this hurdle, that is a day that I will welcome with open arms.
