Book Bunting D.I.Y.

Ever since I posted this photo on Instagram, I've been getting comments about our book bunting nursery decor so I thought I would share it here today! Originally, we gathered some vintage books and had them sitting around the nursery as pretty decorations. We knew that we would eventually have to come up with another use for them as soon as our little lady could reach up and tear them apart, so when that day came, we started looking for alternatives. Although Evelyn already had a flower garland up in her room, we decided to hang her books with the garland and see how it looked. Honestly, we love it so much that whenever we move, we are hoping to be able to replicate this look in our new house!

We started with some lightweight books (vintage children's golden books or cloth books), a roll of twine, a pack of miniature clothespins, two nails, and a hammer. Once we figured out how low we wanted the bunting to drape (and how close to little fingers it could come), we nailed it in place. Each book is held in place with two mini clothespins, a system that's cute and very functional, especially with the floppy cloth books. As a little tip, one of the most helpful things we found during this process was to make sure that the twine was caught between the book and the clothespin to keep it from sliding, especially since the hardcover and cloth books have a pretty significant weight difference!

Our nursery has lots of hanging or draping pieces of decor, but we love it that way. It makes it feel homey and creates a warm, inviting space. And I'll tell you all a little secret... it's definitely one of my favorite rooms in our whole house!
