Because Donuts are Practically a Food Group

Puffed Cream Donut
I promise that this isn't going to become a food blog... we've just been busying ourselves with a lot of really sweet treats as of late, since the weather is too chilly to go exploring outside and there's just nothing like setting out on a treat quest just as running season is about to begin. As for the mission, the wee ones and I have decided to find the best donut place in the Twin Cities. It's the beginning of a lengthy journey but one, I can tell you all, that we gladly undertake.

Our first stop was Puffy Cream Donut Plus in Eagan, largely because I'm still learning the code of the donut shop and most of them seem to open before the sun rises and close midway through the day. Pre-nap sugar high, kids! It's donut day!

With the express purpose of spoiling our lunch, the kiddos and I braved the ice to try this recommended little shop and though we got there just before they closed, we weren't disappointed. The selection of donuts was limited due to the hour, true, but they more than made up for that by volunteering a free bag of donut holes on top of our purchase since it was almost closing time! Yes, you read that correctly: FREE DONUTS.

While popping those delectable pieces of bite-sized heaven into my mouth, I thought to myself how difficult it would be to top this place for the Best Donut Award. But with that said, we will sure be happy to try. Coming soon to a blog near you... the maple bacon donut.

  1. We just checked out Glam Doll Donuts in MPLS last weekend. :) Did a little blog post as well about it.

  2. Yes, do! It's worth it for the donuts AND the environment/decor. ;)

  3. Your donut post inspired me to get my own yesterday afternoon- though not from anywhere fancy. I really wanted an entire bag of those mini chocolate covered donuts, but chose the "healthier" option of a single glazed-raised donut instead :-)

    1. Sounds delicious!! I think the kids and I are going to try a place in St. Paul next week, weather permitting. My taste buds are quite looking forward to it!
