Baby Jesus and Houses

House Hunting

House Hunting
This past week, our lives have been absolutely consumed by two things: baby Jesus in the manger and house hunting. While our wee ones have been chomping at the bit to crack into the gifts under the tree and doing their best to convince us that it's Christmas eve right now, Jonathan and I have been up to our eyeballs searching the web for potential houses.

Last weekend, we though we had hit the jackpot. We found a house that was exactly what we wanted and we were slated to go look at it first thing on Saturday... until we got a call from our realtor that it had sold that morning. Later in the week, we made an appointment to see a different house that had been on the market less than a week, crossed our fingers, and hoped that maybe this was the one.

When we arrived, our realtor informed us that there had just been multiple offers placed.

As of today, things are not going smoothly for us in the real estate world. We know exactly what kind of  house we want and in which area we want to live, but there's just nothing on the market right now. So we'll be putting our house for sale right after Christmas, along with some serious hopes and prayers that we can find our dream house in the nick of time.

And hey, if you live near us and are about to put your beautiful, old house on the market... give us a heads up, would you?

  2. We were looking for something very similar and realized the floor plans did not suit our needs or the rooms were just way too small. We fell in love with our house the moment we walked in and I am sure you will do the same. God really made it clear that our was to be our house. Where are you guys looking? I can't wait to see what God has in store for you guys!

    1. Kylie, we've run into the room size issue as well but the floor plans actually work out pretty well for us. We're looking to end up just south of where we currently are by about 15 minutes, which will put us close to the schools that we're seriously considering for the kids. The real kicker is that there's an ideal neighborhood that I would love to live in (the one where the house had multiple offers already) but across the street from that house was a house that had just accepted an offer and that one was the perfect layout and size. Definitely kicking myself a little for not finding that one in time!

  3. I know how that goes! It can be so discouraging! There was a house I fell in love with before we found ours. It was huge and cheap and I loved it. We were saving up money as fast as we could and they dropped the price. I called on it and there was already an offer on it before we could even look at it. Probably for the best. I would have just been sadder and who really wants to clean 4 bathrooms anyway. ;) Hang in there, the perfect one will come along at the perfect time!

    1. Thanks Verna! That's what I keep trying to remind myself, but I'm so naturally impatient that it's a tough process for me. At least I'm developing some patience along the way though, right?

    2. I'm not very patient either. The toddlers are teaching me though. ;) Hang in there! It will work out!
