History Buffs

Historical Site Fun
Last week, the wee ones and I headed out our front door and down to a local historical site for some fun. I honestly didn't know what to expect (or even if we would be allowed on the property since the all-knowing Internet failed me on this one), but once we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised. It was like stepping into a history book; one moment, we were in the land of Starbucks and paved roads and the next we were back in the 1800's and ready to plow a field.

Since this particular site is part of a neighborhood-wide effort to keep it alive and well, there were chickens roosting in a coop and lots of cool places to explore, though the toddler's favorite part was the park that was right next to the farm. Swings? I THINK YES. And even though we got rained out pretty quickly, it was a fantastic adventure just to get outside, walk around a bit, and to remind the toddler not to poke the chickens with a stick. All in a day's work as a toddler-wrangler.
