Flowers for the Lady

With all the spring weather that we've had lately, I've been looking for excuses to put flowers out on our kitchen table. Last week, our lilac bush blossomed and I couldn't resist snapping off a few sprigs for our table... and the piano and the window ledge. I may have gone a little crazy with the flowers and I couldn't resist the excitement of sharing them with Evelyn, especially given her brother's first reaction to flowers. (For those of you who don't remember, he thought flowers were on the same level as Silence of the Lambs or what would perhaps be more age-appropriate Attack of the Giant Pacifier.)

Armed with the camera and flowers, I sat down on the floor next to Evelyn and showed her the purple beauties. She was intrigued (and thankfully not frightened). She reached for the pretties...

And promptly body-slammed the bouquet right onto the floor. We both laughed as I sopped up the mess on the carpet and Evie happily chattered away as I moved the remaining flowers safely out of reach. All in all, the little lady thought the whole experience was pretty fun, even if she didn't think that the flowers were worth saving. But give her another twenty years or so... and I'd bet she'll enjoy flowers on her table too.
