What A Mama Will Do For Toys

Some of you may have previously heard my feelings on shopping at WalMart. And they were somewhat less than glowing and positive. And if any of you happen to live in a community where going to WalMart is the only option for shopping, you have my condolances. Because I don't know about the rest of y'all, but I HATE shopping at WalMart.

My feelings would probably be somewhat more along the lines of puppies and rainbows if our local WalMart wasn't the scuzziest, most dangerous location in the entire Twin Cities area. Going in there is the equivalent of walking around a prison yard. You hope to make it out without being shanked. Or worse.

So when our pediatrician suggested that we start using an exersaucer or bouncer with Nathaniel, the minuscule part of my personality that is money-conscious spoke up. And I knew where I had to go.

WalMart. [Shudder]

So I strapped on my riot gear, handed the babe a billy club, and we were off to the baby department. To my surprise, I actually found what I was looking for, since the store recently underwent a major renovation. And the salespeople even helped carry the exersaucer up to the checkout.

So I will chalk-up this recent experience at WalMart as a postive one. Does this mean I will be shopping there regularly? Absolutely not. But maybe next time, I'll leave my riot gear at home.

  1. :( I absolutely love love love Walmart! We go there probably 2-3 times a week, just to walk around and get out of the house!

I'm glad you had a positive experience :)

  3. Well, I have to say, they had some pretty decent prices on baby food. So I'll probably be making more trips there in the near future. Plus, it is closer to the house than driving to Target. So maybe... just maybe... I will have more than one good experience there!

  4. I'm one of those people that lives in a rural town and unless we want to pay way too much for groceries, the only option in wal mart. Ours isn't TOO bad though, because while we have PLENTY of scuzzy folks there, it's where the not-so-scuzzy people have to shop too.

  5. The Munchkin Markets are going on right now here in the twin cities. This weekend they are in the Anoka area and then next weekend will be the Washington county fairgrounds (I'll be there). You can check them out for toys! Maybe I'll see you there!

that's their website so you can see the dates and pictures of previous for yourself.

I think of this because I too shudder at the thought of the price of all the toys we need to get for the monkey boy!

  7. Do you mind sharing which exersaucer you bought? I am currently looking for one for my BIG 4 month old!

  8. Sure! We bought the Bright Starts Bounce-A-Bout. The only down-side of this particular exersaucer is that it can only be used up to 30 inches... and Nathaniel is already at 27. So it may not be a great idea for bigger babies, but since Nathaniel really needed something else we could use to keep him entertained (while staying upright), it was the best option I could find. (Other exersaucers I looked at had similar height/weight restrictions).
