Mamas Don't Get Sick Days

This mama has a very nasty cold... and a new appreciation for what my mama must have gone through when my sister and I were young and she got sick.

Growing up, I don't remember my mother ever taking a sick day. For that matter, I don't remember her ever being sick. She was always there to take care of us no matter how she was feeling; now I understand how challenging that must have been.

Last night, Nathaniel got up to eat every three hours and since his food and I are rather inseparable these days, so did I. Even though I desperately wanted to sleep, somehow I didn't mind, which was certainly not the emotion I expected to experience at 5am. Apparently, motherhood brings about a willingness to do things I never could have imagined myself doing before having my own child.

So after reflecting on all of this today, I am grateful for two things: my mother's selfless attitude in taking care of my sister and I as babies, and my wonderful husband who has made it possible for me to rest today by spending time playing with our little boy.
