Day Four: Party!

Because I intensely dislike blogs without pictures and since it snuck up on me this year, I am beginning this blog with a picture of me and a birthday cake. It's that time of year again folks and I did blow out all 23 candles in one breath... so I get my wish, right?

Day four of the adventures of motherhood has been surprisingly smooth. Nathaniel gave me one of the best birthday gifts I could have received this year: an extra hour of sleep! I was thrilled when I woke up to the sound of fussing at 9am and it even made the poopy diaper explosion that followed several hours later worthwhile!

Nathaniel had his two week well-baby pediatrician appointment today. We conquered the task of getting out the door on time (no small feat, I assure you) and arrived at the appointment. In all honesty, it could not have gone any better. Nathaniel behaved so well; he laid patiently on the table holding mama's finger and sucking on his nook while the doctor examined him from head to toe. He is doing great and is completely healthy! Our little boy now weighs 10 pounds 1 ounce and the pediatrician has no qualms about letting him sleep as long as he wants at night, which is currently averaging between 4 and 5 hours at a time.

This afternoon will likely be filled with baby feedings and chores, if I can drudge up the motivation, and tonight we are going out to dinner as a family of three for the first time! I am really looking forward to going out and now that we are beginning to introduce a bottle to Nathaniel so that daddy can feed him too, I am not apprehensive about the potential of a hungry baby in a crowded restaurant.

So here's to a fun night and the beginning of another year of adventures...

  1. Happy Birthday! I hope it was great! be careful with the bottles. Sophia had a massive stomach ache on Tuesday and screamed for 9 hours prior to two massive blow outs and some major vomit.
