26 Weeks and Good News

Jonathan and I went in to the doctor's office for our 26 week appointment to check on Baby G on Wednesday. I was really looking forward to this appointment, as I had been having contractions for the last two weeks and was concerned about the possibility that the contractions were causing me to dilate.

We got to the doctor's office and explained that I was still experiencing contractions. Although they were not as frequent as they had been, they were stronger, so the doctor suggested that we check and make sure that I wasn't going into preterm labor. Jonathan and I found out that I am not dilated or effaced at this point, for which we were very grateful, and the doctor also performed a test called a Fetal Fibronectin test to determine the likelihood of going into preterm labor in the next two weeks.

Waiting for the results was the difficult part. I purposely slept in the next morning, knowing that once I got out of bed and checked to see if the results had been posted that I would be on pins and needles all day. I finally rolled out of bed late in the morning and checked the website, only to find out that the results were not available. I waited several more hours but after hearing nothing, I decided to call the doctor's office.

I spoke to a nurse who was able to give me the information I needed so badly; the test came back negative, which means that I am at a very low risk for going into preterm labor in the next two weeks. I was relieved beyond words, knowing that my son is healthy and that my body is doing exactly what it needs to be doing at this point.

Week 26 Stats for Baby G:
- Uterine measurement: 26cm
- Heart Rate: 150bpm
- Baby Bump: 44 1/2 inches
